Wicked Audio 3D Series Headphones

With everything from cell phones to televisions becoming 3D, it comes as no surprise that we have now entered the world of 3D Headphones. The 3D effect comes from the raised graphics on the outer portion of the headphones. Besides that, the Wicked Audio 3D headphones have the bold colors and crazy designs that have recently become extremely popular. The comfort of the headphone is average at best. By average I mean that most people will find themselves wanting to take a break from them after an hour or two of use.

At only $30, you shouldn't expect much sound quality. However, the bass is surprisingly good. Besides that, the sound quality leaves you wanting more. The Wicked Audio 3D Series Headphones are a decent option for the casual music listener who is looking for a stylish inexpensive headphone. They come in 3 designs: Hero, X-Ray & Airline.

Price: $30

Vivienne Tam Butterfly Monster Headphones

The Butterfly Headphones by Monster are designed by fashion designer, Vivenne Tam. These headphones are very different than any other of Monster's in-ear headphones like the Miles Davis Tributes or the Tron T3's. While we are used to cutting edge and sleek looking headphones from Monster, the Butterfly's are have a feminine and elegant look. The champagne gold metal combined with the little Butterfly design is unique, yet feminine.

While the Butterfly headphones sound really good, but the bass could be a lot better. I understand why they wouldn't put such an emphasis on bass with these headphones since the target demographic is different than their other products. The people that are buying the Butterfly Vivienne Tam headphones probably aren't going to want as much bass as those who are buying Beats by Dre in-ear headphones like the Diddy Beats. While the Vivienne Tam Butterfly Monster In-Ear Headphones aren't for everyone, those who like the overall design will be happy with the overall sound quality of the product.

Soul by Ludacris SL150 Headphones

There has been alot of buzz over the Soul by Ludacris line so I was extremely excited to check them out. The SL150's are a direct competitor of the Solo Beats by Dre so as I was doing my review, I couldn't help but compare the two. These headphones have a very sharp and clean look to them. My favorite part of the design is the leather stitching on the inner portion of the headband. The diamond pattern in the leather gives it that premium car interior look which I love. Just like with the Beats by Dre headphones, the top of the headband has the Soul by Ludacris logo. Although the comfort of on-ear headphones is always a concern, the SL150's are very comfortable because they are a little larger than most. In my opinion, the SL150's are much more comfortable than the Solo's.

Sound quality is about what I expected. Just like with the Solo's, there is a good amount of bass and a significant difference in sound quality depending on the genre. Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B and House music sounds pretty good while classical, jazz and rock music sound average at best. The Ludacris SL150's were made to compete with the Solo Beats by Dre's and after reviewing both headphones, the Soul's are a much better option.

Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones

The Subjekt BlockParty DJ Headphones are a very colorful over-ear set of headphones that have a SkullCandy type of design. Instead of having a skull on the side of the headphones, these have a little alien head. One positive with these headphones is that there is a lot of padding on the ear cups which makes them very comfortable for extended periods. The only drawback to this design feature is that it makes the headphones seem bulky while worn. While I expected a headphone with major bass and mediocre sound quality, I got the complete opposite. The bass is minimal and the high's and mid's were not as bad as I expected. While they are called DJ Headphones, I wouldn't recommend these headphones for any DJ. Overall, the Subjekt Block Party DJ Headphones are a good option for parents who want to buy their young teens a stylish headphone that doesn't break the bank. They are available in 2 colors: Black / Red & Green / White.

True Blood V-Moda V-80 Headphones

V-Moda has created a True Blood range of headphones. Honestly, it's kind of surprising that a headphone company would collaborate with a television show. Maybe it's just me, but just because I love a particular TV show, that doesn't mean I want to buy the show's headphones. While I have seen collaborations similar to this before (like with Star Wars & Coloud), I have never seen it with a premium product or with a whole line of headphones.

The V-Moda V80 headphones are smaller than the Crossfade LP's, but have a similar look. While the Crossfade LP's are over-ear, these have an on-ear design. Another big difference is that these are constructed with a flexible metal which makes them ultra durable. I really like the design of these headphones. The black and red color with the metal faceplate is extremely stylish. The included hard case is also one of the best cases I have seen. The interchangeable faceplates that V-Moda is known for is also available with these headphones. Sound quality is well above average. While they aren't one of the best sounding headphones, they will satisfy nearly anyone. For on-ear headphones, these are a great option. My only gripe is I really dislike all the True Blood signs on the headphones. All the True Blood signs make the headphones seem cheap and gimmicky. I wish they sold 2 separate V-80's: the normal headphone and a special True Blood edition.

*UPDATE*: These headphones are also available without the True Blood signs. The normal ones are called the M-80 while the True Blood Edition are called the V-80's.

50 Cent SMS Audio Headphone Update

Ever since CES 2011 back in February, we have all been anxiously waiting for 50 Cent's headphones to become available. The first story was that they would be called the Sleek by 50 Headphones and that they would be available in Spring 2011. Then in May, we found out that 50 Cent was no longer working with Sleek Audio and all plans to develop the Sleek by 50 Headphones had ended. At that point, 50 Cent decided to continue with his quest to create a signature headphone of his own. Now, the headphones are being developed by SMS Audio, which is owned by 50 Cent. Not much is known about these new headphones but some information has been released via Twitter. Recently, 50 Cent has tweeted a few pictures and updates for his new product.

Here are all of his tweets regarding his new headphones:

Special Edition Dr. Dre Detox Pro Beats Headphones

While the release of Dr. Dre's final album, Detox, might be unknown, the Special Edition Detox Headphones are currently available. This limited edition headphone is the same as the Pro Beats with a few minor changes. The largest change is the paint job, which has been murdered out meaning it has been painted all black. The second difference is that on the top portion of the headphone, they swapped out the standard "Beats by Dre" brand logo for the Dr.Dre Detox Album logo. The third and final change is the carrying case has the same Detox designation as the headband. These three differences are going to cost you around $100 more than the original Pro's.

Sennheiser HD-25-1-II Adidas Originals

At first glance, the Sennheiser HD-25-1-II Adidas Originals Headphones seem like they would be a nice product. This product combines the sporty and classic Adidas style with the great Sennheiser audio quality. These headphones are anything but a nice product.

Let me start off my review by letting you know that they cost $250! The plastic construction make the Adidas Originals look and feel extremely cheap. The build quality is poor. With any adjustments made to the earcups, there is a high chance that the headphones crack. Comfort, or should I say what comfort, is non-existent. After 30 minutes of use, you start to feel discomfort as the earcups pinch the back of your ears. There is one positive with these headphones, sound quality is excellent. However, what good is sound quality if you can't be comfortable while listening to your music? Overall, the number of Sennheiser HD-25-1-II negatives far far outweigh the positives, so they are a poor choice.
