Munitio SV Mobile Performance Earphones

With every Munitio product I review, I'm more and more pleased with the results.  I started off with the BILLETS which I thought provided great value. Then, I reviewed the NINES which had great sound quality and a stylish look. Now, I'm pleased to report that the trend has continued with the SV Earbuds.

Design-wise, the SV's have a more traditional style versus the bullet design of the NINES and Billets. Personally, I like all three designs equally but conservative people will prefer these. The SV's have a flat cord which helps limit tangles. I only wish the cord's diameter was a little thinner because it felt a little large.

Munitio has always done a great job with sound quality, and these are no exception. I would put the SV’s more on par with the more expensive Nines than the Billets. Although the company doesn't describe them as noise-cancelling, I couldn't hear anything when using them, so these earbuds are probably best for the subway, gym or airplanes, and not so much for walking around a busy city. 

The big question now becomes: Which are the best Munitio earbuds: the Nines, Billets or the new SV's? Although you can't go wrong with any Munitio product, the SV's are my personal favorite, the reason being the SV's comfort. The earbuds felt great in my ears, more so than the Billets and Nines.  The SV earbuds are lighter than the other two, and this helps immensely with comfort. One of my biggest pet peeves with earbuds is getting ear fatigue from heavy buds, and while each of the Munitio's give minimal ear fatigue, the SV's felt the most comfortable after a prolonged period.

The SV Mobile Performance Earphones are another great product by Munitio, which is slowly becoming one of my favorite audio companies due to its consistent stylish look, good sound quality and best of all, affordability.

Munitio Unveils 2 New Products

Munitio is an audio company that while not many people know about, have been creating great products for a while now. At this year's CES, Munitio has finally made a splash with the announcement of two new products. First up is the SV Mobile Performance Earphones which is a slight design update to its Nines earbud line which I reviewed last year. I like all the design updates, especially the new flat cord.

While this new update to the earbuds is nice, the announcement I'm extremely excited about is the unveiling of the Pro40's. These new headphones mean that Munitio is finally entering the over-ear market. Evolving into more than just an earbud audio company is a necessary next step for Munitio. Like with all Munitio products, the company has put an emphasis on style, and frankly, I really like the design of the Pro40's. Hopefully, the sound quality and comfort will deliver as well. The Pro40's have just been chosen as the winner of TechRadar's Best Audio Accessory at this year's CES. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 2013 will be a big year for Munitio. As soon as the Pro40's and SV's are released, I'll have a full review so stay tuned!

Munitio NINES 9mm Headphones

Munitio products have always been known for their sleek and stylish headphones, and the NINES 9mm Earphones are no exception. Encased in a bullet-like casing, the headphones are quite durable. The NINES are the premium version of the Billets model that I reviewed earlier, with a flashier, more eye-catching design. While the average listener would be satisfied with the sound quality of the cheaper Billets, music buffs will want to spend the extra money for the flagship model. Muntio describes the bass as "low and thundering without distortion" and that's exactly right. The bass, while not aggressive, as with most expensive earbuds, also caters to those bass enthusiasts out there. The cord is reinforced with Kevlar, which augments the durability of the earbuds that much more. The biggest problem I found was with the weight. Since the earbuds are on the heavy side, they tended to fall out of my ears when running. At $159, the Munitio NINES are not the cheapest, but you do get a durable great sounding headphone that will surely last.

Call of Duty MW3 9mm Billets Headphones

With the recent release of one of the most anticipated video games in recent history, Modern Warfare 3, it comes as no surprise that there have been a number of newly-released, special edition Call of Duty-licensed products. We have seen Special Edition COD everything, ranging from gaming devices to headphones, to even a car! Yes, it's true, there is a Call of Duty Car! Munitio has hopped on the bandwagon to make it's own COD CelebHeadphone! Munitio is an audio company based in California that specializes in earbuds. Today we will be taking a look at the Munitio Call of Duty MW3 Special Edition 9mm Earphones.

First off, the packaging of these earbuds is one of the best I've seen. Munitio has made a strong effort to mimic the look and feel of something out of Call of Duty with the great packaging design. The earbuds themselves are made of aircraft-grade billet aluminum which give them that bullet look and feel. What I like most about these headphones is that they are the perfect weight. They don't feel light and cheap while also not being too large and heavy like many more expensive earbuds. To further emphasize the Bullet theme, the earbuds have a Kevlar reinforced rubber cable which actually works great. The earbuds come with six sets of silicone ear tips. Each size ear tip comes in two colors, lime green and black. I had never seen an in-ear headphone which included different color ear tips for customization. Although the different color ear-tips don't make that much of a difference since they rest inside your ear and are hardly visible, I still appreciate the option. Unlike other brands of headphones, Munitio has done a great job with the Call of Duty brand on the headphone's design. Since I'm assuming not many people want to walk around the street with a huge Modern Warfare 3 logo on the side of their heads, Munitio had to make sure it was subtle. The MW3 logo is laser etched into the back of the in-line mic which is the perfect amount of product branding.

Comfort can be a big issue with in-ear headphones. Some tend to fit too far inside the ear-canal and cause discomfort while others are too small and fall out easily. In my opinion, the Munitio Billets are the perfect size and are extremely comfortable. If they don't feel comfortable when worn, all you have to do is switch in another sized ear-tip. Sound quality won't disappoint but also won't win any awards. Unlike similarly priced earbuds, the Billets don't get as loud or sound as crisp. With this said, the headphones still sound much better than any inexpensive earbuds and will satisfy most.
